The S.HA.W. Foundation will host a Heart Disease Awareness Gala this November. The event will feature the stories of heart disease survivors, experts and spokeswomen, a VIP reception and silent auction.
The S.HA.W. Foundation in conjunction with the Miss Black California USA Scholarship Pageants launched a new initiative to raise awareness about green living.
Every month leading up to the Miss Black California USA pageant we will feature a contestant who has impacted her neighborhood. Look and see this months’ featured contestant.

Applying to be a part of our programs is the first step to becoming a member of The S.H.A.W. Foundation. Young women (ages 13-26) interested in our G.O.A.L.S. Seminars, Project Green Queens, or becoming a contestant in the Miss Black California USA/Miss Black California USA Talented Teen or Miss Black Nevada/Miss Black Nevada Talented Teen Scholarship Pageant must apply directly to us, through the S.H.A.W. Foundation, or on the Miss Black California/ Miss Black Nevada websites. Please allow up to five business days for processing.
Applications are accepted all year long. After we review all applications, we will contact the parent, guardian or participant directly to give them more information on the program to which they are applying.
Participants should evaluate the following criteria, applicants are evaluated based on the following factors:
* Demonstrate the desire to set goals and execute them.
* Make a time commitment to various programs and community service activities.
* Be actively pursuing education
* Be involved in the community, school and/or church.
* Have at least one recommendation from a teacher, mentor or colleague.
* Have the desire to raise awareness about Heart Disease, Obesity and Green Living and Lifestyle,
