Every month leading up to the Miss Black California USA Pageant we will feature one of the contestants on both the

Miss Black California USA website, as well as our own. Every month we give our contestants the opportunity to send us an essay about something that they have done in the community.  We make our selection based on the content of the essay, and the impact that they have made. This month’s featured contestant is:

Kanisha Allen

Miss Allen is a 21 year old Government and Journalism major at

California State University Sacramento. In the month of May Miss Allen

volunteered her time to visit an appreciation event for a Sacramento based Army National Guard. She performed a poem about sacrifice, and spoke to the soldiers as well.

In her essay she noted that she gained more of an appreciation for the soldiers and the sacrifices they make to insure the protection of our rights and freedoms as Americans.

We congratulate Miss Allen on her commitment to service and hope that her actions will inspire young women everywhere to become more involved.
